Sunrise Promise

Nicola (Nikki) and Catherine (Cat) just after renewing their promise at the World Scout Jamboree on "Sunrise Day" 1st August (this day marked the 100th Anniversary of the opening day of the first Scout Camp on Brownsea Island). The idea was that Scouts and Guides around the World renewed their promises at Sunrise. The theme of the Jamboree was "One World, One Promise" which was very appropriate since there were representatives from every Country in the World where there are Scouts. There were 42,000 Scouts, Guides and adults camping together for two weeks at Hylands Park in Essex celebrating the Centenary of the Scouting Movement. (Bigger than the Olympics)! They had a wonderful time participating in organised activities including: water sports, stilt walking, climbing, sub aqua, community work, Science projects, different countries craft, dance, food and activity bases...the list is endless. Every evening there were sub camp parties and entertainment with the chance to make many new friends from across the World.
