Warwickshire Studley District
of Girlguiding UK proudly presented a bench to the parish council at the
Studley parish cemetery on a frosty Monday December 21st to mark the 100
years of Girlguiding and to commemorate the founders Lord and Lady Baden
Powell.

Members from all sections Rainbows, Brownies
and Guides gathered together to plant 100 daffodils and polyanthers to
decorate the area around their bench. Councillor and Action Studley member
Bill McCarthy officially opened the bench with a ceremonial cutting of
the banner and was the first person to sit on it. He said ' It is marvellous
to see so many of the community of Studley working together to benefit
us all. Thank you to all the girls for their contribution to mark the
100 years of Girlguiding.
The bench is to be accompanied by three oak trees 'From little acorns
grow great oaks' These will be planted when the frosts abate.
