Coventry North Girl Guides at the Coventry Godiva Carnival

Stoke Heath, Longford, Wyken, Keresley and Radford have all taken part at least once in the carnival over the past 8 years. Thanks to Denise Bond of Longford and Debbie Hill of Stoke Heath/Wyken for their part in this publicity event this year. Collection boxes are used but the money collected is not our main reason for taking part. It is excellent to show our organisation off to the public. This year, Coventry Evening Telegraph incorporated some photos of the Brownies, Rainbows and Guides on parade. Lucy Coker (a leader for only one month) was photographs with her 2 children and shouted “We’re famous !” when they saw it in the newspaper. Emma Johnson, Rainbow Leader was broadcasting our success on the Radio. 38 Girls took part this year. Please feel free to contact us to join in the parade next year. We sing a lot too, “Everywhere we Go” and “Thunderation”. The Division Commissioner, Moira Stewart successfully arranged a stall at the Festival over the 2 days and for the past 2 years have enjoyed the extra publicity and the new banner looked great on the front.
